MIA 2020 – Powerful A&R Pitch for Mike Roth

In this assignment, Mike asked us to play a 1 Canadian Classic song. However, with the help of my awesome peers, we made a on the spot decision to medley 2 great tunes!

Both Bands were huge in their times. “Corey Hart – Sunglasses at night” is one of my favorite songs as it trascended decades and many people still sing it to this day with a rocking feel. “IllScarlett – OneA” gives me a sense of what it takes to work hard and eventually see your music pay off.

“Andy Pacheco was born in Bolivia but lives in Mississauga… He looks up to the late 80s but was raised on the early 2010s era. The timing couldnt have been worse for him, as he was too young to go to bars to see illScarlett or Corey Hart. Both bands were huge supporters and loved their local scene, something Andy relates greatly.

Brand New Radio Performance by yours truly at Studio Red on 106.9 The Ex

Music Industry Arts student Andy Pacheco, joins us in the broadcast centre to share his voice and guitar skills.

One of the many things that I enjoy as a Music Industry Art student are the opportunities. For instance, one of them was performing at Studio Red Live.

With lots of talented people around and a close connection to the film/radio programs, Fanshawe College, is a great place to study music production.

Midway through the first semester I saw a little FB post on the MIA 2020 Facebook Group. This post offered a radio performance opportunity. Therefore, I decided to click on the link and submit my artist form.

After a couple of weeks of the form being submitted, I was walking around the studios and bumped into Andrew, shout out to him because little did I know he was in charge of the applications and in that moment he assured me soon I would be playing.

The day of the gig, I was greeted by an awesome team on the door of fanshawe, eventually after a couple of sound checks it was time to turn on the lights and do this show!

To Everyone: The first “Music Memory” I had, starts when I was 5 years old…

The story says, I really wanted to watch the “Alice Cooper – Brutally Live DVD” however due to my very concerned family and the gruesome show I was not allowed, or at least I had to wait till I turned 18 (no pun intended)…

So I did what every 5 year old would do, I snuck in behind my parents back and watched it regardless, little did I know this was going to be the concert that was gonna change the rest of my life… With feelings like #fearsomeness, #excitedness, #shookness and #happyness, I was lost in the moment and ready to watch.

Every bit of the show was enjoyed to the teeth, from No More Mr. Nice Guy to the Britney shirt, from Alice’s infamous gruesome tricks to the “brutal” and loud heavy rock and metal and guitars… I was in love with what I saw, not to spoil the show even more if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

To wrap this up, like any 5 year old, I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar, or in this case in my dads CDs collection, not by my parents but by my aunt “Bi”. She was so surprised that decided it to not to tell my parents and watch it with me. About a week later she told my dad he should show the DVD to me, he agreed…

Little did he know, as soon as he put the DVD in, I told him to put the track number 15, No More Mr. Nice Guy and soon after I confessed!

THIS WAS AN INTRODUCTION (but not limited) TO ALICE COOPER, RYAN ROXIE, ERIC SINGER, BOB EZRIN, CALICO COOPER, GREG SMITH… BUT DEEP INSIDE IT WAS AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF ROCK AND LATER ON, MY CAREER!

So, Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to read this and is always supporting me, you ROCK!
